Normally Civic Lubbock, Inc. begins taking applications for the Local Grant Program in March for the next fiscal year, which in this case, would be for events taking place at the Civic Center and/or Moonlight Musicals Amphitheatre beginning October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2022.
The Local Grant Program is funded primarily through net income generated the prior year from concessions/catering and ticket fees collected through Select-a-Seat. While the City facilities have had a handful of events since last March and a few tickets have been sold through Select-a-Seat, the pandemic has had a very negative impact on revenues that fund this grant program. As a result, there is no funding available for the 2021/2022 Local Grant Program.
Hopefully, once in-person events return to a level that generates enough revenue to fund the Local Grant Program, it can be re-instated.
