Andy Wilkinson is a poet, songwriter, singer, and playwright from Lubbock whose particular interest is the history and people of the Great Plains.
Andy has recorded eleven albums of original music and has written eight plays. Among them “Charlie Goodnight’s Last Night,” a one-man show performed by Mr. Barry Corbin (1985 Walk of Fame honoree); the musical drama “My Cowboy’s Gift;” “The Soul of the West” (written with Red Steagall); and “A Way in the West,” a one-woman show performed by Ms. Trudy Fair. His work has received several awards, including the Texas Historical Foundation’s John Ben Shepperd Jr. Craftsmanship Award and six National Western Heritage “Wrangler” Awards in four categories. He was an Artist in Residence at the Southwest Collection at Texas Tech University, where he also served as a visiting assistant professor in the School of Music. He continues to work part-time at Texas Tech for the President’s Office and in the Honor’s College. In addition to his writing and teaching, Andy continues to perform.
Andy Wilkinson was inducted into the West Texas Walk of Fame in 2014.
