Local area musicians have the opportunity to appear on the next “Lubbock Music NOW” album and “Lubbock Music NOW” television special. The project highlights local area artists who are writing original music and performing in Lubbock.
The deadline for song submissions for the 2027 “Lubbock Music NOW” album is June 30, 2026. The application form and song submission requirements are available for download on the “Lubbock Music NOW” page of this website.
All entries must be original songs and professionally recorded. The project is open to artists that live within a 100-mile radius of Lubbock. Artists must have performed at least two paying gigs in Lubbock within the last year.
Music experts around the country, including current and/or former members of the Texas branch of the Recording Academy (Texas Grammy Board) serve as judges, and the top-ranked songs are selected for the album.
The selected artists will have the opportunity to appear on the “Lubbock Music NOW” television special and take part in other events. In addition, each artist or band selected receives $200 and five free copies of the CD.
All “Lubbock Music NOW” albums since the program’s inception in 2016 are available on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and dozens of other streaming services. Physical copies of the CDs still in stock as well as other “Lubbock Music NOW” promotional merchandise can be purchased through Select-a-Seat . All proceeds from the sale of the album go toward producing future editions of “Lubbock Music NOW”.
