Civic Lubbock
Civic Lubbock, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization established in 1956. Our mission is to foster and promote cultural, educational, and entertainment activities, to include the visual and performing arts, for the citizens of Lubbock and the surrounding area.
Civic Lubbock, Inc.
- Supports programming of local arts and cultural organizations through grant funding programs
- Supports and promotes local musicians/songwriters through our annual Lubbock Music NOW CD project
- Administers the West Texas Walk of Fame Inductions that honor artists with a strong connection to West Texas
- Develops and funds projects that support Lubbockâs musical heritage
- Administers and provides funding for a public art program that includes the acquisition and maintenance of public art on city-owned property
How do we do all this? With revenues generated from concession sales and catering in the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center and Moonlight Musicals Amphitheatre along with the operation of Select-a-Seat.
Civic Lubbock also receives and administers a portion of the Hotel Occupancy Tax that underwrites local visual arts and performing arts programs.
The Board of Directors of Civic Lubbock, Inc. is comprised of individuals that bring diverse backgrounds, areas of expertise and a dedication to fostering the arts and entertainment in Lubbock.

Civic Lubbock Committees:
Civic Lubbock, Inc. has several internal committees that administer and/or make recommendations to the board regarding its projects and operation.. Board members generally serve on at least two committees.
Local Grants Committee: Develops grant recommendations for arts/entertainment-related events presented by local non-profit organizations that utilize the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center or Moonlight Musicals Amphitheatre.
West Texas Walk of Fame Committee: Researches potential candidates and nominates individuals for induction. Oversees the coordination of the Walk of Fame Induction Ceremony.
Concessions/Select-a-Seat Committee: Recommends policies and operational procedures for the Food/Beverage and Select-a-Seat operations.
Entertainment Lubbock Committee: Develops recommendations on the development, organization and funding of projects that promote Lubbock’s entertainment and musical heritage. Primary project is currently the Lubbock Music NOW project.
Museum and Arts Committee: Serves as an advisory committee to the Silent Wings Museum and Buddy Holly Center. Brings forth recommendations on public art acquisition and maintenance of City-owned public art to the board for approval. Coordinates the Public Art Display Program at the Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport.
Cultural Arts Grant Review Committee: Administers the Cultural Arts Grant Program for the City of Lubbock. Develops grant award recommendations that are presented to the board for approval with final approval by the Lubbock City Council.
Finance Committee: Reviews and presents the Civic Lubbock annual budget to the board for approval. Considers other financial recommendations and issues as needed.
