Angela Strehli (b.1945) is a legendary blues singer from Lubbock.
Known as the “First Lady of Texas Blues,” Strehli grew up listening to a combination of country, rock n’ roll, and blues on the radio. She learned how to play the harmonica and bass before becoming a full-time singer. Strehli has released a handful of albums, including Soul Shake (Antone’s Records, 1987), Dreams Come True (Antone’s, 1990) Blonde and Blue (Rounder Records, 1993) and Blue Highway (M.C. Records, 2005). Along with singing the blues, Strehli is an avid blues historian and helped found the historic blues club, Antone’s. Her involvement in the Austin music industry helped to catapult the city’s iconic blues scene. She has collaborated with other artists such the Vaughan Brothers, Muddy Waters, Jimmy Reed, Otis Rush, and countless more. After a break from recording, Strehli released Ace of Blues in 2022 on the newly revived Antone’s Record label.
Angela Strehli was inducted into the West Texas Walk of Fame in 2005.
