Charlene Condray Hancock (b. 1938) is a singer and pianist from Lubbock.
Born in Morton, Texas, and hailing from a musical family, Charlene Hancock debuted her voice on Lubbock radio at only 8 years old. At age twelve, she performed in regional shows and was a regular on Lubbockâs first TV station, the weekly Circle 13 Dude Ranch Show, making her a regional star. In the late 1940s and early 1950s, her future husband, Tommy Hancock, discovered Charlene and hired her to sing with his band, The Roadside Playboys. After marrying, she began performing with children Conni, Traci Lamar, Joaquin, and Holli, at the Lubbock Cotton Club. In the 1970s, the family moved to an off-grid cabin in Questa, New Mexico. They joined with guitarist John X Reed and began touring as The Supernatural Family Band. In the 1980s, Charlene and her daughters Conni and Traci Lamar formed The Texana Dames and toured across the US and Europe. The Hancock family has since settled in Austin.
Charlene Condray Hancock was inducted into the West Texas Walk of Fame in 2012.
