David Gaschen (b. 1969) is an internationally renowned Broadway and Musical Theater Singer from Lubbock, Texas.
After graduating from Texas Tech in 1993 with a degree in vocal performance, Gaschen moved to Chicago and began his professional career, performing in over 20 musical plays. In May 1995, he received the alternate role of The Phantom in the original production of “The Phantom of the Opera” in Basel, Switzerland. By age 26, Gaschen became the youngest Phantom ever cast in a professional production. After his enormous success in Europe, performing as The Phantom over 1,000 times, Gaschen was again cast as the lead in the Broadway debut production of Phantom of the Opera in 1999. He has since gone on to release several solo albums including Let Me Sing and I’m Happy (2001), David Gaschen (2005), and A Celebration of Christmas (2014). In 2018, he received the Distinguished Alumni Award from Texas Tech’s School of Visual and Performing Arts.
David Gaschen was inducted into the West Texas Walk of Fame in 2006.
