Tanya Tucker (b. 1958) is a country music performer from Seminole, Texas.
At thirteen years old, Tanya Tucker (later nicknamed “The Texas Tornado”) already had her first hit, “Delta Dawn” (1972), which went top 10 on the country music charts. She has gone on to release 27 albums, including Delta Dawn (1972), TNT (1978), Changes (1982), and What Do I Do With Me (1991). Several of her albums have achieved Gold and Platinum sales status. A few of her most popular songs are “What’s Your Mama’s Name” (1973), “Strong Enough to Bend” (1988), and “Two Sparrows in a Hurricane” (1992). Tucker also acted in movies and TV shows such as “Touched By An Angel” (1994-2003) and “The Love Boat” (1981). In 2020, she released an autobiography entitled, Nickel Dreams: My Life, an account of her experiences from growing up in the music industry. In 2021, Tucker was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. She continues to record and perform music, with her most current release being Sweet Western Sound (2023).
Tanya Tucker was inducted into the West Texas Walk of Fame in 1988.
